Black Cherry Flutes

It has been a busy summer and a while since I have posted anything. I wanted to add some recent flutes I have made out of wild black cherry that came from my fathers forest. Cherry is a very nice wood to work with consistant grain and great acoustics. shown here are four flutes made of cherry with payung rosewood and purpleheart accents, in addition I have inlaid crushed stone requested by the customer.

As Autumn winds down I have been busy getting the new shop ready for winter. Although it may look small at 10x12 feet, the dedicated shop will be perfect for making flutes. Everything will be setup efficiently to streamline the creation process ensuring quality.

The Evolution of Earth Spirit Flutes

Earth Spirit Flutes started out in my garage making a few flutes for myself, eventually people started asking about them and if I could make them a flute. Soon my garage was no longer an ideal place to make them and I built a shop dedicated to making flutes. From the start each flute I made was a learning experience an thus began its evolution, constantly looking for ways to improve efficiency and quality as well as visually appealing flutes. The nest area of my flutes are designed to hold the block secure as well as protecting the sound hole from wind while playing outside in windy conditions, the "shoulders" act as a wind block as well as the chimmey in the block. I offer everything from the most basic flute to complete custom flutes which can include, accent woods, crushed stone inlay, wood burning, beads, feather and most anything your heart desires. All flutes are tuned to the same standard regardless of price.
